Pressure Chemical maintains unique capabilities to perform custom sulfonations and sulfations. With multiple glass-lined reactor trains ranging in scale from 50 to 1000-gal, and fully equipped laboratory facilities, we are prepared to perform custom sulfonation and sulfation process R&D, piloting, or commercial manufacture.

Sulfonation and sulfation reactions are challenging due to the hazardous nature of the reagents, the highly exothermic character, potential viscosity increases, and by-product formation. Pressure scientists and engineers have expertise in the safe use of sulfuric acid and oleum, sulfonic acids and acid chlorides, sulfur trioxide, and other sulfonating reagents in a wide variety of sulfonations. We also have highly efficient scrubbing capabilities to manage effluent acid gases.
